RAJMA/ RED KIDNEY BEAN CURRY

North  Indians favourite dish...They prefer it with rice...In my house, my son is most fan of it...He was very happy to know that he is having this for lunch today...Normally he likes almost all chappathi curries, but Rajma have a special place in his heart...We both are not that much fan,but mainly for my son , I include this in diet weekly....Rajma is a kind of big bean, called Red kidney bean.This is not Indian orgin..but now cultivating in Jammu and some north indian plains...This is a part of diet for north indians..rich of calories and protiens. Here the recipe .......

Ingredients:

1. Rajma Bean
1 cup
2. Onion
2 Nos
3. Ginger/Garlic Paste 
2 tsp
4. Tomatoes  
3 Nos
5. Green Chillies   
3 Nos
6. Cumin seeds  
1/2 tsp
7. Coriander pwd    
2 tsp
8. Redchilli pwd  
1/2 tsp
9. Rajma Masala/ garam masala
1 tsp
10. Salt      
to taste
11. Coriander leaves  
1/2 cup


















Method:


 1. Soak the bean over night or for 6 hrs....In a pressure cooker cook the bean together with salt and 1 tsp of chopped coriander leaves ( this gives a good flavour to the curry ).Give upto 5 or 6 whistles ...its hard to get cook....    Once its cooked well , slightly smash the bean with spatula..

2. In a kadai / non-stick pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, when the seeds turns brown , add the chopped onion, and green chillies....once it gets light brown add the ginger garlic paste and saute well...
3.In another kadai, just heat the coriander pwd, rajma masala/ garam masala and red chilli pwd ...saute it until its raw smell goes...
 
 

4. Add this heated powders to the onion mixture and saute...then add  chopped tomatoes and saute until the tomatoes gets meshed up well and oil starts to come out...
5. Add the cooked bean to this,check the salt...make a good boil until required constitency comes...normaly Rajma curry will have thick constitency....   add the remaining chopped coriander leaves.. 
 
 

Serve it with Rice or chappathies or rotis
