OATS UTHAPPAM


One of my friend requested me for oats recipes for breakfast,normally in my house oats are cooked as kheer/ payasam, with dates,upma and uthappam. Yday,no snacks were left behind in my cupboard , so thinking what to make for evening,reminded me about oats...this healthier than any snacks and will fill the stomach having even two....here the recipe is....

Ingredients:


1. Brown bread / white bread
4 slices
2. Oats       
1/2 cup
3. Rice flour
1/3 cup
4. Semoline/ Rawa 
1/4 cup
5.Yoghurt / Butter milk  
1/2 cup / 1 cup
6. Water  
1/2 - 1 cup
7. Salt    
1/2 tsp / to taste
8. Cooking soda
1/4 tsp
9. Cumin seeds    
1/2 tsp

For Toppings:

 
1. Onion
1 Big
2. Green chillies   
3  Nos
3. Ginger( grated)        
 1 tblsp
4. Carrot   
1 No   
5. Coriander leaves  
1/2 cup     

Method:

1. Cut the edges of the bread and powder it in a mixer, also powder the oats , now mix all the ingredients such as ,bread ,oats,rice flour, semoline, cumin seeds,soda ,salt,yoghurt, then add required amount of water  to get a thick consistency dough.It should not be as thin as dosa. keep this aside.
  2. In another bowl, mix the finely chopped onion,ginger,chillies,vegetables ( u can use any type such as carrots, green piece, capsicum etc),and coriander leaves. Mix all this with a spoon and keep aside.



       
3. Heat a non stick pan or tawa , take a  ladle full of dough and spread it round like we make dosa.....
  4. The heat must be  medium, now a spoon of mix vegetables over this...and give a light press over the vegetables with  the spatula so that it wont drop while we flip the uthappam...


 


 5. Now add a little bit oil over the uthappam and on the sides, ( i used sesame oil )...after 1 minute ,flip the uthappam to other side ...do it very carefully...the vegetables must get stick on it...
 6. Allow it to cook for a while...........


7. Serve it with chutney , podi, pickles or tomato sauce.......
OATS UTHAPPAM READY!!!!!!
