MATHAN ILA THORAN/ PUMPKIN LEAF DRY CURRY

                  Pumpking leaf is called as mathan ila in malayalam..i used to make this as curry with thuwar daal and coconut..this time my husband suggested to make this as thoran and he said during his childhood day he used to have it.....tasted fantastic ..felt as if  im in  kerala..

  INGREDIENTS : 

 

  1. MATHAN ILA               :  A BUNCH

  2. COCONUT GRATED   :  1/2 CUP

  3. SHALLOTS                    :  6 NO:S

  4. RED CHILLI PWD        :  1/2 TSP

  5. TURMERIC PWD         :  A SMALL PINCH

  6. MUSTARD SEEDS       :  1/2 TSP

  7. OIL                                 :  1 TSP

  8. SALT                               : TO TASTE

  9. CURRY LEAVES            :  2 STEMS

                                      

                                                      METHOD

                                      



1. Chop the leaves finely.






2. In a kadai, heat oil , add mustard seeds. Allow it to splutter.
3. Then add the sliced shallots ( abt 3 ) and curry leaves and saute for a while



4. Once the shallot turns light brown, add the chopped leaves to it and saute well .Then close the kadai with a lid.
5. Allow it to cook for 1 minute.





6. Crush the remaining shallots , turmeric pwd , chilly pwd with grated coconut
7. Add the crushed items to the cooked leaves and saute well and keep the heat low for a while , so that the taste of crushed items gets mixed up well.

HAVE IT WITH RICE!!!!TASTYYYY..
