MUTTON CURRY KERALA STYLE

Its Christmas , as its a holiday for father and son, its time to make something spl and which can make wow from both of them. This curry is made only from mutton but as my son doesnt like any non veg , and i didnt get time to make any vegetarian dish, thought to add potatoes to it.
INGREDIENTS:

FOR MARINATION:


SHALLOTS
7-8
GARLIC PODS
7-8
GINGER
1”
PEPPER CORNS
5-6
RED CHILLY PWD
1  TSP
FENNEL SEEDS
½ TSP
CUMIN SEEDS
½ TSP
CINNAMON STICK
1 “
CLOVES
4-5
CORIANDER PWD
2 TSP
TURMERIC PWD
¼ TSP
SALT
1 TSP ( AS PER TASTE )

FOR GRAVY:


MUTTON
½  KG
POTATOES
2 SMALL
ONION
2 BIG  SLICED
TOMATOES
2  MED  SLICED
CURRY LEAVES
AS PER REQ
SALT
¼ TSP
MUSTARD  SEEDS
1 TSP
OIL
1 -2 TBLSP








PREPARATION:
  1. Remove the skin and wash the shallots, garlic, ginger, onion.
  2. Slice the onion and tomatoes.
  3. Make a paste of all ingredients given for marination.
  4. Wash and clean the mutton pieces and cut it into small pieces
  5. Peel , wash and dice the tomatoes






LET'S MAKE ;)
  •  Marinate the mutton pieces with the paste and keep it for 30 minutes.
  • After 30 minutes , cook this mutton pieces in a pressure cooker.If u need a gravy dish, then add abt 1/2 cup of water and give upto 3 whistles.I gave 1 whistle in full flame and other 2 in sim

  • In another kadai, add oil and add mustard seeds.Allow it to splutter.
  • Add sliced onions and curry leaves .Saute it until it becomes brown





  • Then add the tomatoes and salt
  • Once the tomatoes gets mushy, add  potato pieces and close the lid and allow it to cook.




 
  • If req add little water for cooking of potatoes
  • Once its done add the mutton pieces along with the water content in the cooker.

  • Allow it to cook in simmer and switch off the flame when  it aquires req consistency .
NB:
  1. Some doesnt like mustard seeds.You can avoid it
  2. If like to add coconut pieces, add it while cooking the potatoes or with mutton in pressure cooker.
