KATAL KI SUBJI


KATAL OR JACK FRUIT OR  CHAKKA IS VEGETABLE TILL IT BECOMES RIPENED ..ONCE IT GET RIPEND BECOMES A FRUIT.. AND CALLED AS CHAKKA PAZHAM ..I LOVE ITS AROMA...MOSTLY IN KERALA MANY DISHES ARE MADE IN BOTH STAGES..AS I AM LIVING IN DELHI ,FOUND THE NORTH INDIANS MAKING DISHES .

                     THIS IS THE FIRST DISH IN MY BLOG ..HOPE EVERY ONE WILL LIKE IT!!!!



KATAL KI SUBJI

INGREDIENTS:


JACK FRUIT
½ KG
ONION
2 MED
GINGER
1 TSP
GARLIC
1 TSP
TOMATOES
2 MED
CORIANDER PWD
2  ½ TSP
TURMERIC PWD
¼ TSP
CUMIN PWD
½  TSP
CHILLY PWD
1 TSP
GARAM MASALA PWD
¾ TSP
SALT
AS REQ
WATER
½ TSP
          

 METHOD  :

  

Cut the katal in triangular shape,   wash and dry it.

 



           

 Fry this katal in oil until it turns brown.

    

IN A KADAI...HEAT OIL AND SAUTE FINELY CHOPPED ONIONS .

                                                    


ONCE IT STARTS TO TURN INTO BROWN COLOUR ADD FINELY CHOPPED GINGER AND GARLIC



WHEN THE ONION TURNS INTO BROWN ADD CHOPPED TOMATOES.


ONCE THE TOMATOS GETS FULLY COOKED AND OIL STARTS TO COME OUT, ADD
CORIANDER PWD ,CUMIN  PWD , TURMERIC PWD , CHILLI PWD, GARAM MASALA PWD

  


ADD 1/4 CUP WATER AND SAUTE FOR WHILE

         

    ADD THE KATAL ( JACKFRUIT) AND MIX WELL 


    KEEP THE LID CLOSED FOR A WHILE AND IN BTW SAUTE IT


     ADD  CURD AND MIX WELL

    ADD AGAIN LITTLE WATER TO IT AND COOK TO A CONSISTENCY WHICH U REQ FOR GRAVY

        

    kATAL SUBJI READY!!!!!!!!
