MUSHROOM TIKKA MASALA

Normally i used to make paneer tikka masala.But there was a  packet of mushroom left over in fridge and as the mushroom doesnt last for days i gave priority for that and my mind was full of making paneer tikka masala and that time decided to make tikka masala with mushroom itself and it was a super hit .Even my hushand's colleague called me and asked the recipe ...

INGREDIENTS:
FOR MARINATION:


MUSHROOMS
250 GMS
ONION

RED CHILLY PWD AND KASOORI METHI

YOGHURT               
½  CUP
SALT
AS PER TASTE
OIL
TSP


FOR GRAVY:


ONION
1 BIG FINELY CHOPPED
GINGER –GARLIC PASTE
1 TSP
TOMATOES
2
CORIANDER PWD
1 TSP
RED CHILLY PWD
½ TSP
TURMERIC PWD
A PINCH
GARAM MASALA
½ TSP
MAIDA
½ TSP
SALT
AS PER TASTE
OIL
1 TBLSP
JEERA / CUMIN SEEDS
½  TSP




METHOD:


PREPARTION
  • Cut the mushrooms into four, caspicum , 1 tomato and 1onion into cubes ( remove the seeds of tomato and can be added while making puree).
  • In a bowl, add the yoghurt, redchilly pwd, salt ,oil and kasoori methi
  • Mix all these and add the diced mushroom, capsicum, tomato and onion
  • Mean while , take the remaining onion and finely chop them
  • Make a paste of ginger garlic
  • In a mixer add the remaining tomatoes  and blend it to make  fresh puree
MAKING

  • In a kadai, heat a tblsp of oil, add jeera, then onion and saute well





  • Once it becomes translucent add turmeric and salt
  • Mean while , in a tawa or any non stick pan add the marinated mushrooms and in low flame let it become slight brown.( Mushroom will leave water but dont worry , dont give too much of stir )





  • Once it becomes brown switch off the flame
  • Now again back to the onion....once the onion becomes slight brown, add the ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 minutes





  • Then add the puree, add coriander pwd, jeera pwd, red chilly pwd and maida and saute until it leaves oil or leave the sides of the pan...( maida is added to make a slilky texture to the curry..its optional )





  • Add 1 cup water and allow it to boil
  • Now add the browned mushroom and veggies from tawa to this
  • Now again bring it to boil in simmer
  • Now add the garam masala pwd

  • Add fresh cream and switch off the flame. ( fresh cream is optional , i hvnt added )
